If you cannot get enough of television’s hit reality show, “Dancing with the Stars” you are in luck. Because on September 12th at the Slidell Municipal Auditorium local celebritieswill be competing in Slidell’s version of a show the public simply cannot get enough of.

A portion of the proceeds from this wonderful, exciting, fun-filled evening will be going towards Habitat for Humanity, The Pediatric Foundation of the Northshore and Slidell Little Theatre’s “The Next Stage” project. The event is being co-produced by Slidell Women’s Civic Club and Slidell Little Theatre. Two years ago the initial “Dancing with the Stars” was held and was a phenomenal success. The list of prominent dancers that will be showing off their fancy footwork include: Times-Picayune’s community news editor Carol Wolfram (who finished third in the first "Dancing with the Stars" gala), defending champion actress Mary DuBuisson, Representative Greg and Peggy Cromer, Dr. Stan Owen, artist Emile Henriquez and his wife Mary Ann, Marlene Bajon,  Audrey Baker,  Chuck and Kay Sabadie , Ken Starling, Sharon Delong, Cory Johnson,  last year’s second place dancing duo John and Ellen Lamarque,  Bill and Sharon Newton, Kim and Eric Villaobos, Ann Smith, Salmen High School band director Jim Stevens and Stephen B. Cefalu.

Defending champion Mary DuBuisson admits that, “I'm so excited to be dancing again!  It's going to be very different from last time because I have a new partner, a new teacher, and a new dance!  What a wonderful event that allows the dancers to help raise money for the community (SLT & SWCC), and have so much fun doing it.”

All of the dancers will perform two dances. They will all dance the Foxtrot. The groups will choose their second dance from: the Cha-Cha, the Salsa, the Swing, or the Tango.

WWL-TV’s Frank Davis is going to be the evening’s Master of Ceremonies and Slidell Police Chief Freddy Drennan is one of the judges. The dance instructors are Javier Juarez (Salsa), Aaron Smith (Swing), Rachel Henriques (Foxtrot), Al Henriques (Cha-Cha) and Rick Seeling (Tango).

Tickets are only $50.00 per person. Doors open at 6 pm and there will be a delicious buffet dinner catered by Chateau Bleu. Once the competition is finished patrons can “dance the night away”. There are also $25.00 tickets available. Those seats are in the balcony and do not include the buffet dinner. There are only a total of 500 tickets available.

If you or your business would like to help sponsor a portion of the evening, there are several different sponsorship levels: $5,000 (Platinum Title Sponsor), $2,500 (Gold Sponsor), $1,500 (Silver Sponsor), and $1,000 (Bronze Sponsor). Depending on their sponsorship level, the sponsors get tickets to the event and recognition for their contribution to the event. They will also be introduced during the evening’s festivities.
