The Hammond Chamber is Thinking Business, Innovation and Growth in 2010 and we have gotten off to a great start this year. We’ve installed a motivated Chairman and an enthusiastic Board of Directors that will help chart the future of the Hammond Chamber. Our Committees are already accomplishing great things and we want you to get involved and be a part of the progress.
Here’s a brief description of the committees:
Ambassador Committee (Chaired by Liz Reno)- Responsible for recruiting prospective members to the Chamber, assisting with monthly networking activities, new member orientation, ribbon cuttings, supporting member retention efforts and helping with the annual Membership Drive.
Building Committee (Chaired by Grady Brame) - Focuses on maintaining the integrity of our historic train depot.
Community and Business Expo Committee (Chaired by Cassie Ragan)- Plans and organizes our annual Community & Business Expo that showcases members’ businesses and invites the community to visit your business.
Business/Commerce Committee (Chaired by Ron Taylor)- Provides all chamber members with valuable information that will help them in today’s ever changing business climate.
Community Development Committee (Chaired by Brian Gohres) - Works on the quality of life issues in our area, such as recreation and Crime Stoppers, to enhance our community. Good quality of life is a vital part of making Hammond successful.
Education Committee (Chaired by Lemar Marshall and Avril Font)- Works closely with the members of our local school board and government to develop programs, such as the Magnet School Program, Project Step-Up and Choices, that offer our children quality education. Great education equals good economic development.
Finance Committee (Chaired by Grady Brame) - Reviews and addresses budgeted income and expenses and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.
Government Affairs Committee (Chaired by Erin Cowser) - Focuses on the big picture when it comes to Louisiana politics and notifies the Chamber Board when a specific position needs to be taken. This committee monitors business-related legislation at the federal, state, and local levels and measures its possible effects on the business community. This committee also offers members opportunities to meet with elected officials who are often guest speakers at meetings.
Link Award Committee (Chaired by Dr. Rusty Mayer) - Recognizes local businesses for their beautification efforts in our community.
Membership Committee (Chaired by Maria Sanchez) - Works hand-in-hand with the Marketing and Ambassador committees to ensure member growth and retention. This committee also works to ensure that members are taking advantage of their benefits and receiving all membership information.
Marketing Committee (Chaired by Linda Morgan) - Dedicated to promoting our chamber and our members.
Personnel Committee (Chaired by Dr. Bill Neal) - Creates policies and procedures for the Chamber staff. These policies and procedures guarantee consistency and success among the staff.
Special Projects/Events Committee (Chaired by Gary Sandifer) - A fun way to get involved. This committee helps put in motion business-promoting events such as, Ham’nd Eggs, Chamber After Hours, the Christmas Parade, Chillin’ with the Chamber Raffle and other events throughout the year.
