Well, as if we didn't have enough going on during the non-stop party that was February, it's on to spring now and the next fabulous phase on the northshore.  There is no rest for the weary in March!  Keep that momentum moving into a month filled with fun.  March is jam-packed with all sorts of things to get into.  There’s something for everyone.

My favorite pick of the month to attend with my family is the Habitat for Humanity Breakfast at Tiffany's Annual Brunch and Bowl Event.  On March 7, I will head to Tiffany Lanes in Mandeville with the Campbell’s in tow for an event that will please everyone in our family.  The fun starts at 11:30.  There's music, dancing and an array of brunch items offered, so there is something available for everyone in my hungry group! The bowling goes on until 2:30.  This is a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West, but also a great opportunity to educate my kids about what Habitat does and the difference it is making in our community.  Habitat, through its volunteers, has constructed 107 homes just since Katrina.  The price for a group to participate in all of the fun on Sunday is $50.00! For bowling and for feeding my family, that is absolutely a bargain! Consider bringing your family, it’s time well spent.  Get more details at www.habitatstw.org

As I mentioned - it's a busy month.  On Sunday, March 21 there are two events that I am so excited to be a part of.  At 11:00, I'll start my busy day at the St. Tammany Humane Society's annual Woofstock Festival, held at St. Peter’s School. They have asked me to be their emcee and I am so thrilled to do it!  In addition to all the music, food and libations for humans, your dog can benefit at Woofstock as well.  Their low-cost vet clinic will be on hand to offer good deals on annual vaccinations, meds and other doggie stuff.  The day is truly a lot of fun and this year there is free admission.  The music is fantastic - Christian Serpas and Ghost Town will be performing along with We3.  There are puppy related contests, such as best owner/doggie look-alike as well as stupid dog tricks. My family and I had such a great time when we attended last year; I am so pleased to be a part of it this year.  But when the day starts to come to an end the good times will continue to roll... and I simply need to head right down the street!

The 26th annual Chef Soiree starts at 5:00 at Bogue Falaya Park.  This benefits another organization that is close to my heart - the Youth Service Bureau.  I am a new member to the board at YSB, and so honored to be.       Youth Service Bureau has been quietly fulfilling the needs of children and helping families in our community for decades.  Many life-changing programs, CASA, for example, are operated by our own Youth Service Bureau.  The Chef Soiree is a premiere northshore event and a huge reason why the Youth Service Bureau is able to help these kids all year.  Chef Soiree is simply an unforgettable night of fabulous food, drinks, dancing, fireworks and fun.  Tickets are available at www.chefsoiree.com. In addition, a raffle is being held for a $10,000 cash giveaway. Those tickets can be purchased at www.ysbworks.com.  It really is such a wonderful night.  If you have never been, make this the year you attend Chef Soiree on March 21. You'll have an incredible time.

OK, off to the next unforgettable event - The St. Tammany Hospital Foundation Gurney Games. Yes, Gurney Games! This event is a hoot! Numerous teams come up with elaborate themes and costumes, they adorn and decorate hospital gurneys, then race them down N. Columbia Street through obstacle courses competing in tandem for the fastest time! On Sunday, March 28, you have GOT to come to downtown Covington and check out this event.  It is a blast! I will be returning this year as a judge and I honestly can't wait to see what they come up with this time! A highlight last year: when one team, upon approaching the judges table, parked their gurney and performed perfectly the entire dance sequence from "Thriller"! It was unexpected and so entertaining! I expect nothing less from the teams this year. The other judges and I give out awards for many interesting categories... however, my favorite may have to be "Best Bribery of a Judge"!  It's a good natured, fun filled, laugh-out-loud kind of event.  It’s from 2:00-5:00.  The street is, of course, blocked off, music is playing and food and beverages available. This years’ event is preceded for the first time by a 1 mile and 3 mile race, “The Mad Dash”. Get more details at www.stph.org.

I make it my business to know what is going on in this inspiring community of ours.  Life is good here on the northshore and there is never a shortage of educational and entertaining things to be involved in.  If you know of an event you would like me to consider sharing with my readers here in On The Seen, please send me an email at: scampbell@northshoreconifer.com.  I'd love to hear about it. Remember, you can also catch me with updates about what is happening and going on the northshore at Twitter.com/OnTheSeen.
