Slidell City Court Judge James “Jim” Lamz recently administered the formal oath of office to two new Deputy Clerks of Court.
The two deputy clerks are: Paula Keller of Slidell and Juanita Barnes of Pearl River.
Keller will work in the Criminal Division, in a position assisting visitors to the Court who appear at the main window for a wide variety of services and information. She will be responsible for the collection of Court fines and Probation payments as well as preparing Bonds and filing Court-related documents brought to the main window such as Civil Court pleadings. Keller comes to the court with a background in banking.
Barnes will serve as a Docket Clerk in the Criminal Division. In that position, she will work directly on the Court docket, sending out subpoenas, keeping minutes and recordings in Court and swearing in witnesses during Court proceedings. Barnes previously worked with the 22nd Judicial District Court as a deputy clerk.
As officers of the Court, they have full powers and authorities of the Clerk, according to Slidell Clerk of Court Susan Ordoyne.
“Our Deputy Clerks are vital to the services this Court provides. With our heavy Court docket that continues to grow, we need good people with both the professional skills and the focus on giving excellent customer service,” Lamz said. “Paula and Juanita are valuable additions already to our ability to assist the community, business owners, attorneys and law enforcement officers who rely on Slidell City Court.”
