As of today, the North Shore Regional office of the American Red Cross Southeast Louisiana Chapter is no longer located at 619 N. Tyler, Suite D in Covington. The North Shore Regional office is now open at 300 Ashland Way in Madisonville in the new Southeast Louisiana Chapter Continuity of Operations (COOP) building. The main phone number for the office remains (985) 892-4317.
The COOP building ensures that the American Red Cross can carry on all essential sheltering and feeding functions in case of a natural or manmade disaster in southeast Louisiana. The COOP building is located just off of the I-12/Hwy 1077 exit at Goodbee in St. Tammany Parish. Its multi-purpose design will allow the Red Cross the required flexibility to respond to various regional emergencies. For example there are several large rooms with movable walls, so the areas can serve as conference rooms, waiting areas for those affected by disaster, or for use as staging sites for our key staff, volunteers and community partners.
Information on the building Grand Opening of the COOP building will be released in the coming month.
The Southeast Louisiana Chapter was one of four Red Cross locations to receive part of $25 million donated in July 2006 by
Kuwait and the Kuwait Red Crescent Society to support COOP buildings. The other locations are Baton Rouge, Mobile, ALand Tallahassee
, FL.
