The West St. Tammany YMCA announces Amanda McInnis has joined the team full-time as Sr. Program Director responsible for youth, adult, aquatics and family programs.

McInnis is developing and implementing new and existing programs for youth sports, adult sports, aquatics, as well as holiday and summer camps. Her summer plans for West St. Tammany Children are exceptionally innovative and fun for all ages.

McInnis earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida in Communication Science Disorders and American Sign Language.  She is a 10-year veteran of the YMCA of the Greater Houston Association and brings an extensive background in her field.

“I believe my childhood experience in the YMCA directly impacted the person I became,” McInnis said. “The values and friendships made were the key factors that led me to pursue a career with the Y.”

Summer camp topics include:

·       Half-day specialty camps that will run on a concentrated schedule with an emphasis in a specific skill or sport.

·       Weekly, themed, full-day summer camp that will include exciting field trips, sports, arts and crafts, dance, karate, drama and much more.

YMCA will host a Meet-the-Counselor Ice Cream Social, May 10, 6:30 pm at the Frances Road headquarters. Parents and children are both welcome to the social to meet the summer staff and enjoy ice cream while learning about exciting summer plans at the YMCA.
