The state’s top two teams to Face off on CST!!!!

NEW ORLEANS – Cox Sports Television announced today that the 24-hour regional sports network has added the LSU vs. Southeastern Louisiana baseball game to its schedule. The game will be live on CST May 4th at 6:30pm from Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge.

Both teams have spent nearly all of the season nationally ranked, as the Lions have recently dropped out of the Top 25. Following a mid-week loss to rival New Orleans, LSU is currently 32-10 overall with a 11-7 record in the SEC Western Division. The Lions are 31-12 overall and currently in 4th place in the Southland Conference with a 13-8 record.

Southeastern is looking for revenge from last year, as the Tigers won both contests in 2009. The Lions, led by head coach Jay Artigues, have an offensive attack that features top hitters Justin Boudreaux, Jeff Harkensee and Cody Gougler. As for the pitching staff, the Lions are hoping Brandon Efferson, Chris Franklin and Josh Janway, all of which have an ERA under 3, will lead the Lions to a victory.

Paul Mainieri once again in 2010 has created a high powered offense that is led by catcher Micah Gibbs, who is batting .415, and right fielder Mikie Mahtook batting .358 with 17 doubles. Keeping the Lions off of the scoreboard will be left up to LSU’s pitching staff led by Jordan Rittiner, Anthony Ranaudo and closer Matty Ott.
