State Rep. Greg Cromer (R-Slidell) is reassuring public employees that he will support maintaining their current retirement benefits while working to ensure the solvency of the state retirement systems.
"Since being appointed to the Retirement Committee last week I have been contacted by numerous individuals and special interest groups who have concerns about the various state retirement systems," said Cromer. "I want to assure all participants in these systems that I will not vote for any measure that will reduce benefits for current employees. Unfortunately, because of budget constraints and long term concerns, new employees entering these systems starting in 2011 may be offered different benefit packages from current employees."
Cromer was appointed to the Retirement Committee by House Speaker Jim Tucker last week.
