St. Tammany Parish is working with PEC, a company hired by BP to provide haz-mat training to scientists, veterinarians, contractors and the public to assist in the Gulf Oil Spill clean up efforts. It has been arranged for PEC to use Trinity Banquet Hall inSlidell for the haz-mat training beginning Monday, May 10. There is no cost to the public for any training modules.
The training will be divided into three modules. Module 1 is for volunteers who will be assisting in the removal of clean debris. Module 2 will be for both volunteers and subcontractors paid by BP to assist in laying down clean boom material. Module 3 is training for those individuals who will be having direct contact with contaminated material, such as scientists taking water samples and veterinarians.
Module training will begin on Monday, May 10 and run for the week. If more training is deemed necessary, the following week will be used as well. The schedule is as follows:
Week of 5/10/2010
Mod III 8am – 2pm daily Monday – Friday
Mod I & II 3pm – 5pm Monday – Friday
Mod I & II 6pm – 8pm Monday – Thursday
Week of 5/17/2010 (if needed)
Mod III 8am – 2pm daily Monday – Friday
Mod I & II 3pm – 5pm Monday – Friday
Mod I & II 6pm – 8pm Monday – Friday
