St. Tammany residents who owe property taxes for 2010 have until the end of this week to submit payment.
Property tax bills may be paid in person between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Justice Center in Covington or at the Sheriff’s Office Slidell complex on Brownswitch Rd. Bills may also be paid online by electronic check at www.stpso.com. Click on the E-Services link.
Bills may still be paid after Friday; however, state law mandates a 1% interest fee be assessed for each month (or partial month) the bill is late.
Of the 118,351 property tax bills for last year, 64,428 have been paid, leaving 53,923 outstanding bills. (Figures were accurate as of Wednesday afternoon).
